How to protect your orkut account

I was asked by many people to tell me the way to protect your orkut account.PLese reply and show your feed backThis Simple Tutorial will Save you from Spam mails and Hacking Tricks used by Many hackers.
As you know you can hide your primary email address from non-friends but if by mistake you add a unknown person to your friend list, then he/she will be able to see your primary email address which you use to login. He can send dangerous emails (keyloggers etc.) and steal your Orkut account. There are two Methods to be safe:

1.
Changing Primary Email:
Go To Edit Profle Page of your profile, then click on COntact tab and change your Primary Email address to some other id, which you don't use much. Your login id will remain same but your friends will see your other email id.

2.
Using Fake EMail id:
It is the most effective way of hiding email id, but it requires a new account, If you have some larger communities and want safety, then follow this method:

Create a new Orkut account, On the Sign Up page enter any id which does not exist like yourname@yourname.com, me@orkutaccount.com etc.
Then after entering other details, you will be redirected to your home page and with a message "Verify Your Email", Just igonore it and do as stated below
Now Go to google.com, you will see your fake id on the top-right corner yourname@yourname.com, You can see "My Account" Option there.
Go To "My Account Page" and create a gmail id from there. (You can see it under Try Some More)
Done! You have your new login id but your friends will still see your fake id :| Enjoy

The smile pockets a rattling controversy.

Hide Keyloggers and Trojans with Binders

You would have probably heard that never run a .exe file if you are not confirmed about the authenticity of the person who send you that particular file, The reason why you might have heard that because Trojans, Keylogger, Spywares and Adwares use .exe format by default

So what do you think are you completely safe that you run untrusted MP3,JPEG files?

The answer is no, Its because you never know that virus has came with which format, It can take any format, It could be in JPEG, It could be in MP3 and it could be in almost any Format, So in this article I will tell you how hackers hide Keyloggers,Trojans and other harmful viruses in other files

 What is a Binder?

A Binder is a software used to bind or combine to or more files under one name and extension, The files to be binded can have any extension or icon, Its all up to you and you have the choice to select the name, icon and various attributes of binded file, The Binded files can be even worse when they are crypted, because Bintext would not be able to find it and at the same time it could also bypass antivirus detection then you are almost guaranteed to be infected

Popular Binders

Here are some of the popular binders used by hackers to hide keyloggers and Trojans:

Simple Binder

Simple binder is one of my favorite binders of all time, I give thumbs up to the maker "Nathan", Its so easy to use and even a script kiddie can easily use it to bind keylogger or backdoors with other files

Weekend Binder

Weekend Binder can be used to bind two or more files under one extension and icon, If the binded file contains an application, the application also runs along with the actual binded files .

How to detect Crypted Binded files?

As I told you before that if a trojan or keylogger is binded with a file and it's crypted in order to bypass antivirus detection then its very difficult to detect it, However there is a great piece of software called resource hacker which is really effective when it comes to keylogger protection, It detects whether the file is binded or not.

What is Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)?

You might have heard some times that not to give your password or credit card information or any other sensitive information on public computers or on Msn, yahoo etc chats. The reason why you might have heard that the Hackers have some ways to you would have probably heard that hackers have a way to steal your your credit card numbers , passwords etc.
A hacker can use different types of attacks such as Packet sniffing or ARP Poisoning to steal your sensitive information

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is the most widely used technology for creating a secure communication between the web client and the web server. You must be familiar with http:// protocol and https:// protocol, You might be wondering what they mean. HTTP protocol is used for standard communication between the Web server and the client. HTTPS is used for a secure communication.

Cryptography

If two users want to have a secure communication they can also use cryptography to accomplish it

For example:

TFDVSF=Encrypted Text

SECURE= Decrypted Text

You might be wondering how i Decrypted it, Here i have used Algorithm=+ for the communication and the key is "1", What comes after S is T so as you can see that S is converted into T, What comes After E is F to letter E from the word secure if converted into F and so on, To help you understand this more better I am adding a Video

So If the hacker starts sniffing from between he will get Encrypted text and as the Hacker does not know the keys so he cant decrypt it, but if the attacker or hacker is sniffing from the starting point so he will get the key and can easily Decrypt the data

Standard Communication VS Secure communication

Suppose there exists two communication parties A (client) and B (server)

Standard communication(HTTP)

When A will send information to B it will be in unencrypted manner, this is acceptable if A is not sharing Confidential information, but if A is sending sensitive information say "Password" it will also be in unencrypted form, If a hacker starts sniffing the communication so he will get the password. This scenario is illustrated using the following figure

Secure communication(HTTPS)

In a secure communication i.e. HTTPS the conversation between A and B happens to be in a safe tunnel, The information which a user A sends to B will be in encrypted form so even if a hacker gets unauthorized access to the conversion he will receive the encrypted password (“xz54p6kd“) and not the original password. This scenario is illustrated using the following figure

How is HTTPS implemented?

A HTTPS protocol can be implemented by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), A website can implement HTTPS by purchasing SSL certificate.

Which websites need SSL Certificate?

The websites where a private conversation is occurred, Websites related to online transactions or other sensitive information needs to be protected needs to SSL Certificate

How to identify a Secure Connection?

In Internet Explorer and google chrome, you will see a lock icon Picture of the Lock icon in the Security Status bar. The Security Status bar is located on the right side of the Address bar. You can click the lock to view the identity of the website.

If you are making an online transaction through Credit card or any other means you should check if https:// secured communication is enabled.

How To Create Strong Passwords?

As you know that passwords are the only form of security available now a days, Its really important for one to create a strong passwords,
Keeping a weak passwords can make you vulnerable to attacks such as Brute force, Dictionary attacks, Rainbow Tables etc.
So in this article I will tell you to create a strong password so you can secure your account from getting hacked

What makes a strong password?

A password can be considered strong if it contains following things:
  • It needs to contain special characters such as @#$%^&
  • It must be at least 8 characters long.
  • It must not have any common words such as 123, password, your birth date, your login name and any words that can be found in the dictionary,(This will prevent you from getting hacked by a Dictionary Attack)
  • a variation of capitalization and small letters
Alternatively there is a website named www.strongpasswordgenerator.com which automatically generates a strong password for you, The website allows you to choose a password length and also gives you hints through which you can easily memorize the password

Mac Security Software - Secure Mac OS

The area of Mac security software is fairly broad to Mac users. The primary aspects of security software for the Mac are antivirus programs, patches and updates for the Mac OS X, and updates from commonly used applications such as web browser Safari, Adobe Shockwave, and Google Chrome.

In general, Mac users should be kept up-to-date on security fixes for all of the listed primary items above. Applying fixes will be automatic in the case of a program like Google Chrome while the Adobe Shockwave product will inform you of updates so long as you are connected to the Internet.
Security vulnerabilities can reach in to Mac email applications as well to where you have what are known as botnets putting out spam email messages using your Mac. That is why you want an antivirus program that is robust and will provide you with security monitoring for emails as well as your hard disk and web site usage. Along with that, it is important to stay current on the latest Mac OS X fixes that apply to your operating system. Checking with Apple's website to ensure your current with security fixes is a good way to confirm the facts. There are also web blogs particular to Mac users that will indicate the latest Mac security software issues and fixes for widely-used products such as Safari.

Antivirus programs are plentiful for the latest Mac OS X versions in use. It becomes harder to find support for antivirus software on older Mac OS X versions. Be aware of end-of-life software so that you are not caught short when it comes to security. The latest trojan horse viruses that are attacking Mac users are also a good thing to be aware of even if you have solid antivirus program software.

Computer security is a big issue and is constantly playing catch up to those who exploit operating systems flaws, browser code weaknesses, and application program security flaws. Security flaws also exist in such ancillary programs the Mac uses such as Java. Java is used heavily for web-based communications and applications. Exploitations of Java can lead to corruption of your local system hard disk and data files.

To avoid suffering the maladies of a compromised Mac computer system, always stay on top of the latest Mac security software fixes and visit trusted web sites while quickly aborting any unfamiliar web site to you that you were referred to or found wherein you see a lot of pop up advertising and free software checks of your Mac hard disk or statements about your Mac may be infected.

For those Mac users that also run a Windows volume or partition, it is wise to have an equally running antivirus program on the Windows side. There are viruses that will go between both the Windows and Mac sides of your Mac computer. In fact, MS Office products that use visual basic along with macro commands are notorious for impacts from malware and trojans.

The use of a robust antivirus program that will monitor both your Windows and Mac volumes, folders and files is that way to go.

How to protect your computer from keyloggers?

Keyloggers have been a major problem today as once they get installed in your computer the hacker can get almost any information, I have written couple of posts on keylogging and reviewed some of the best keyloggers available now a days
The program which are specially used to detect and protect your computers from keyloggers are Antiloggers, I have tested lots of Antiloggers and found Zemana Antilogger only which is capable of detecting almost every keylogger.
Normally a keylogger is detected by a good antivirus or Antispyware program, but hackers use some methods such as crypting, hexing, binding etc through which the keylogger can easily Antivirus as well as Antispyware program

Zemana AntiLogger now covers pretty much every aspect of Windows including registry modification and dll injection prevention and protects Windows from other spyware-related techniques with Anti-Keylogger, Anti-SreeenLogger, Anti-WebLogger and Anti-ClipboardLogger tools of its own. Another useful feature this apps has is while-list approach (in contrast to Anti-Virus blacklist approach) meaning it automatically recognizes "safe" programs and does not treat them as "suspects"
For more information on this program and download details visit the following link

    How to identify phishing scams

    What is Phishing?

In the field of computer security, phishing is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.

What does a phishing scam look like?

Phishing e-mail messages take a number of forms. They might appear to come from your bank or financial institution, a company you regularly do business with, such as Microsoft, or from your social networking site.

The following is an example of what a phishing scam in an e-mail message might look like.
    Phishing spam
Example of a phishing e-mail message, which includes a deceptive Web address that links to a scam Web site.

Here are a few phrases to look for if you think an e-mail message is a phishing scam.

    1.Verify or update your account:

Businesses should not ask you to send passwords, login names, Social Security numbers, or other personal information through e-mail.
2.you have won a prize or lottery:
The lottery scam is a common phishing scam known as advanced fee fraud. One of the most common forms of advanced fee fraud is a message that claims that you have won a large sum of money, or that a person will pay you a large sum of money for little or no work on your part
"3.If you don't respond within 48 hours, your account will be closed."
These messages convey a sense of urgency so that you'll respond immediately without thinking.

Tips to protect yourselves from phishing:

    1. Don’t reply to, or click links within, emails that ask for personal, financial, or account information.

    2. Check the message headers. The ‘From:’ address and the ‘Return-path’ should reference the same source. If necessary, look at the expanded header as some phishing use vulnerable email servers to rout their messages.

    3. Instead of clicking the links in emails, go to the websites directly by typing the web address into your browser, cut and paste, or use bookmarks.

    4. If on a secure page, look for “https” at the beginning of the URL and the padlock icon in the browser.

    5. Use a browser that has a phishing filter (Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Opera).

    6. If you ever need to change your account information, such as your billing details or your password, you should always sign in to your account from the main login page of your trusted network (i.e. your bank’s main website) and make the changes directly within your account.

How to secure your network from Trojans

A Trojan, sometimes referred to as a Trojan horse, is non-self-replicating malware that appears to perform a desirable function for the user but instead facilitates unauthorized access to the user's computer system.

    Is trojan virus Dangerous?
The short answer is yes, and the long answer is sometimes No, because there are near a thousand different trojan horse viruses and they all will most likely alter your computer in some way or another.

    Working of Trojans!

    Types of Trojans:

    1.Remote Access Trojans

    2.Password Sending Trojans

    3.Keyloggers

    4.Destructive Trojans

5.Denial of Service (DoS) Attack Trojans

    6.Proxy/Wingate Trojans

    7.FTP Trojans

    8.Software Detection Killers

How to Get Rid of Trojans:
Here are some practical tips to avoid getting infected (again). For more general security information, please see our main security help page.
    1. NEVER download blindly from people or sites which you aren't 100% sure about. In other words, as the old saying goes, don't accept candy from strangers. If you do a lot of file downloading, it's often just a matter of time before you fall victim to a trojan.
    2. Even if the file comes from a friend, you still must be sure what the file is before opening it, because many trojans will automatically try to spread themselves to friends in an email address book or on an IRC channel. There is seldom reason for a friend to send you a file that you didn't ask for. When in doubt, ask them first, and scan the attachment with a fully updated anti-virus program.
    3. Beware of hidden file extensions! Windows by default hides the last extension of a file, so that innocuous-looking "susie.jpg" might really be "susie.jpg.exe" - an executable trojan! To reduce the chances of being tricked, unhide those pesky extensions.
    4. NEVER use features in your programs that automatically get or preview files. Those features may seem convenient, but they let anybody send you anything which is extremely reckless. For example, never turn on "auto DCC get" in mIRC, instead ALWAYS screen every single file you get manually. Likewise, disable the preview mode in Outlook and other email programs.
    5. Never blindly type commands that others tell you to type, or go to web addresses mentioned by strangers, or run pre-fabricated programs or scripts (not even popular ones). If you do so, you are potentially trusting a stranger with control over your computer, which can lead to trojan infection or other serious harm.
    6. Don't be lulled into a false sense of security just because you run anti-virus programs. Those do not protect perfectly against many viruses and trojans, even when fully up to date. Anti-virus programs should not be your front line of security, but instead they serve as a backup in case something sneaks onto your computer.
    7. Finally, don't download an executable program just to "check it out" - if it's a trojan, the first time you run it, you're already infected!

Hope you liked the post ! Kindly give your feedback by comenting!

5 ways on How to block spams on gmail

    What is SPAM?

Spam is the abuse of electronic messaging systems (including most broadcast media, digital delivery systems) to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately. Most widely recognized form of spam is email spam.

While Gmail doesn't filter all spam messages that could reach your inbox, it still does a better job as compared to other webmails such as Yahoo Mail or Hotmail. Apart from consistent improvements being done on Gmail's filters, the utmost ingredient that contribute to the overall effectiveness is the use of community signals.

How to block spams on gmail:

    1. Block image spam
As the webmail filters get better, spam also evolves and becomes harder to block. This is particularly true when it uses images and literary texts. Here's a simple Gmail trick to divert spam messages (contain images) to the Trash folder (or any folder you specify) automatically.
Step 1: Firstly you need to go to 'Settings > Filters' and choose "Create a Filter".
Step 2: Type 'multipart/related .gif' in the 'Has the Words' field and also check the 'Has Attachment' box.

Step 3: Click next and select "Delete It" to move the spam message directly to the GMailTrash folder.
Note: There's a small chance of GMail filter triggering false positive and move few important emails from real senders to the Trash folder. To make sure this thing doesn't happen, create a new folder (label) in gmail and change the instruction to redirect all related mails to the new folder. You can sort out the mails later on during your free time.
    2. The Plus Hack
If you like to sign up for internet freebies or buy things online, this tip will definitely come handy. Creating alias emails for aforementioned activities which are very likely to spam you, is an effective way to completely reduce number of spams in your Gmail mailbox. Not only you can track who is the culprit and you can also accurately learn with whom your email is shared with.
To do this, simply put a '+' after your account name and add words.
Example: I can do 'eches+online_deal@gmail' or 'eches+spammer@gmail.com'. All these mails will come into your mailbox anyway, but they can easily be filtered to a folder and even to trash them.
    3. The Googlemail Hack
When you registered with Gmail account, you are actually given two email addresses
    yourusername @gmail.com
    yourusername @googlemail.com
You can use both without having fear the later might not reach your mailbox. Like the above trick, you can take advantage of these two domains so that less spam reaches your Gmail Inbox via filtering system.
For example you distribute 'yourusername @googlemail.com' address to your close contacts while keeping the 'yourusername @gmail.com' address for public. Set filter such that all 'yourusername @googlemail.com' to be delivered to a special folder. This is a definitive way to ensure important messages not to be diverted to Trash folder by mistake.
    4. The Dot Hack
Gmail doesn’t acknowledge dots (.) in your account name. So I can use 'eches.net@gmail.com' or without any dots at all. Either way will return to 'echesnet@gmail.com'.
Again you can use the power of filter system to divert certain aliases to specific folders or directly to Trash folder.
I hope you can you use some of the tips above to reduce spams in your Gmail mailbox. Again, these tips are not definitive ways to completely eliminate spams but they can effectively reduce the spam numbers.

Gmail may be the best mail arround but it lacks some common features like blocking a spammer from sending you mails. But thankfully here is away to do this. You can send mails from a id to the Trash automatically.

    5.Block spammers on gmail:
Select "create a new filter" next to search box
Type the desired email address under From:
    Click Next .
Check Delete it box under Choose action.
    Save it.

If you wish to blocks a entire domain type just "@example.com". (without quotation marks)
To block more than one address, separate them with "" (without quotation marks).
For eaxample you can block both spammer1@example.com and spam2@example.com by typing spammer1@example.com
